Outline of MultiPlayer gameplay [New Blood: General] [New Blood: Weapons] [New Blood: Gameplay Overview] [Discuss in Forums] Predator: New Blood Gameplay: Multiplayer As the predator isn’t being watered down, making sure multiplayer is fun for everybody and not just the predator is a very difficult task. Deathmatch In a species death match, there can only be 10 people, two predators, four different species of quadrupeds we see in single player, and four marines. But to even the odds, the marines each get one AI “buddy” to help them out. They also get, in every level, a bunker that can be damaged and eventually destroyed. This bunker contains lots of ammo, weapons, equipment, and some useable vehicles (which are driven around the level by AI pilots which can be destroyed but will re-spawn in five minutes) for the humans. If the marines stay in their bunker for more then five minutes, points will begin to be taken away. The marine base is guarded by three AI humans, one with a bazooka, one with an M-60, and one with a sniper rifle. These humans can be killed, but they re-spawn in one minute. They have heat-detecting cameras that will detect you once you get within 100 feet of the base. This will prevent the predators from camping. To balance the point system, each human is worth fifty points. But, if you kill a human and don’t take your trophy, you only get twenty-five points. If a human kills a predator, that human gets 175 points. Likewise, the predators also have a hideout, which is high up in the level, either in trees or on a rock formation. These contain spare pieces of armor to replace damaged ones, spare weapons, ammunition, the recharge device (which you carry once you pick it up until you die), and pretty much every other piece of gear the predator may need. As with the marines, it all re-spawns in five minutes. This is the only safe place where the predator can heal itself, and as with the marines, if you stay in here for more then five minutes, you will loose points. If the marines camp outside, the pair of AI predators who are guarding the place with heavy duty plasma cannons will wipe them out if they get within 100 feet and stay there for over one minute. Survival The next mode of multiplayer is called “Survival.” Two predators can play, and five humans can play. The predators and humans still have a bunker. Every other species from the game will be in this mode of play, but will be controlled by the AI. Humans will still have AI backup as before, and will have to contend with the other species, as will the predators (no AI backup for them, just have to contend with all species). The predators only get one life each, and then you go into free fly mode. The humans get two each (these can be changed, but this is default, as can the predator lives) and then they go into free fly mode until nobody is left or the time runs out (can go up to an hour, down to five minutes). Hunt Another mode of multiplayer is called “Hunt.” This is another predator versus human game mode. Here there is a maximum of two predators, and a maximum of ten marines. They must start at one point (they travel in a tank until the predators destroy it) and make it to their bunker. The predators must be careful not to give themselves away, or the tank will shred them up. Use plasma casters and burners to take out the tank’s treads, then the humans must get out and make the rest of the journey on foot (this is the really fun part). For the rest, as the marines travel on foot, think predator. The two predators hunt the ten marines as they make their way to the bunker. In this mode of play, the marines carry very powerful weapons. Several of them have gattling guns, a few more have bazookas, and a few more have heat-detecting lenses effective up to 30 yards, which will spot the predator, and sniper rifles. So, the predators really have to use tactics and brains, not just kill like Quakers. Invasion A very cool mode of multiplayer is called “Invasion.” Here, a group of humans (soldiers) infiltrate a former installation that belonged to the humans, which now unwillingly houses the predators. Only marines can play here, all predators are AI controlled. The number of predators can go from five to fifty (50 is suicidal), much like “Terrorist Hunt” from Rainbow Six. The second phase of this multiplayer mode takes place in a predator ship. There can only be a maximum of ten predators here, but they are all very heavily armed, and won’t hesitate to fry you with a high-tech plasma weapon (only accessible by the AI, player controlled predators can only get the weapons described in the weapon section). Classes There are several classes of marine. There is the standard marine carrying an M-16 with modified grenade launcher, three extra clips, and four grenades for the launcher. He also has a large Rambo style knife, and demolition explosives. The next class is support; they carry the M-60 with two extra belts of ammunition (200 shots for each belt), and a knife. The next class is heavy; they carry a gattling gun with only one other belt of ammunition (500 rounds for every belt) and a knife. The speed of the human is dependant not on the weapon they have out, but what they carry. In real life, you still feel the weight of the gear you aren’t currently using. There are no predator classes; you play multiplayer with the customized predator you made in single player. The predator’s speed is constant unless you hit the walk key (same with marine), and the predator’s speed is almost three times faster then the marines’ speed at a full run with no gear (very fast, around 50-60 miles per hour). Levels/Worlds There are several different planets, each with a several levels throughout this game. This section goes into depth on each world. The Single Player section will explain the levels, objectives, etc. World One This planet is called Tyrax. This is where you first start the game, with minimal equipment. It’s a very dark planet (dark like LV 426) and extremely rocky with many hills, rock formations, mesas, and plateaus. It is a perfect hunting ground, lots of high points, and lots of places to hide. This is the world that is home to several animals, but the main ones you are hunting are the quadrupeds, which are described in the game play section (they look similar to Cougars but don’t have fur, just very tough skin). They are very fast, strong, smart, have incredible reflexes, as well as tearing claws and teeth. They do rely on visible light, but their vision is not very good. They track extremely well with scent and hearing, and can regulate their internal body temperature to blend in with the environment, making them invisible to you if you are in thermal vision. Of course, they only do that if they know you are there. Use caution when hunting these creatures, as they are very powerful and tend to move in packs. World Two This planet is very unique, and is called Salaxiav. It is an extremely mountainous planet, which is sweltering hot (about 100 degrees Celsius) because it has two suns. This planet is home to quadrupeds as well. They have pink/red, muscle colored skin, coal black oval shaped eyes, and their brains are visible through their heads (their bones are translucent). They are very fast, strong, have tearing claws, and can stick to all surfaces as well as move at Cheetah speeds. They see in electromagnetic vision, so your cloak is useless. Since the planet is so warm, all life practically blends into the surroundings, so it would be wise to use electrical vision. They usually travel in pairs or groups of three, possibly four. If you catch a lone one, you will get extra respect points for taking it on in close range combat (as you will with everything you kill with close range), but these you get especially more points, they are just so dangerous. If you come across more then one, take them out with your burner or plasma caster if you have earned it, that is, if you want to survive. Again, use extreme caution. World Three This is a jungle world, much like the Predator rain forest, but with more rain (why wasn’t there any rain in the rain forest?). Beware; it rains on and off which will disable your cloaking. This planet is inhabited with more quadrupeds (the most efficient evolutionary design) which are about twice the size of a male Lion, can use their very long claws to climb extremely well, and are about as smart as dogs. They have immense strength, speed, and agility. They can see very well in the dark (it’s a very dark planet) and will spot you quickly if you are not cloaked. They tend to travel in packs and can get to you no matter how high in the tree you are. But fear not, for you are the hunter, and you are stalking them. Fun eh? World Four- Earth Self-explanatory right? Well, you’re wrong. You start off in Panama (this is level one and two for earth), hunting soldiers at a small marine base, which is full of heavily armed and very well trained humans. They are waging war on the drug cartel, for your hunting pleasures of course. You get to face grunts, and drug running slime. Yeah baby!! This is the only world where you get to hunt with your clan mates, and you’ll need it. The humans are armed to the teeth. Unlike every other world that has three levels each, this has five. Panama is the first and second level. The third and fourth level is New York City. Drug wars over “turf” are everywhere, and you and your clan takes advantage of the carnage, while creating even more. You can terrorize civilians on the street, destroy their cars, you can literally destroy the city if you want. But, it comes at a cost. Soon the military will comb the area and blast your ass into oblivion, so don’t give yourself away having too much fun. Though, knowing me, I would put on God mode and level everything. Hell yeah!! The fifth level (the best out of all I think) takes place in Arizona, at a very large, very heavily fortified military base, which is doing weapons research, as well as genetic and biological research. You and your pack are going to start out by hunting the perimeter, soldiers going on security maneuvers, etc. But once they find out you are there (and you’ll know because you’ll see an army combing the landscape, coming in your direction) you are really in for some fun. Or so you thought. It will be explained in detail in later sections, but you are going to be captured and taken into the base for research. The plot for this entire game will be gone over in the single player section. Multiplayer Worlds You can play on each of these planets on multiplayer. Each planet has two outdoor maps in different areas, and three different indoor “installations” for the Invasion multiplayer mode. However, on Earth, you can play in the jungles of Panama, the deserts of Arizona, and the Concrete Jungles (great book) of New York City.
