general outline of gameplay [New Blood: General] [New Blood: Weapons] [New Blood: Equipment] [New Blood: Gameplay MP] [Discuss in Forums] Predator: New Blood Gameplay Often I have wanted a third person point of view, but first person does have advantages. Decisions, decisions. Or, maybe not. You can choose what point of view you want in game. Simply hit F1 to toggle between first and third person point of view. When in third person, your crosshairs will still be there, and you will be able to see the predator when cloaked because the outer rims of his eyes will glow, but only we can see that, so don’t worry about giving yourself away in third person. The entire screen will stay in the vision you still have selected, so you can still see your target before it sees you. This game isn’t your classic frag fest we keep getting. This could be called an action/role playing game. If you frag mindlessly, you will gain much less respect, and won’t have access to as much gear. Plus, your enemy will gang up on you, because fragging mindlessly gives you away. You will be overwhelmed and killed quickly, so that means you really do have to hunt. For example, you’re tracking a small group of quadrupeds on a distant planet (these things are fierce, as smart as dolphins, awesome reflexes, strength, agility, and tearing claws). You can pick them off unseen and one at a time like the movie Predator, or you can take out your burner, and blast them all in seconds. The burner approach is not recommended. There are other creatures in the area, they are not scripted, and so they will soon get a bead on your location and track your scent. Once you reveal yourself while killing something else, they will gang up on you, as will everybody else that heard your previous kill. That means you have to hunt carefully, systematically, and most of all, invisibly. You are strong, but you can’t survive teaming masses. Difficulty There are three difficulties, easy (you gain respect very easily), hard (you gain respect at the same rate but it isn’t worth as much in terms of gear), and “yeah right” which makes it very hard to earn enough respect to get all of your gear unless you de-cloak before every kill and take every trophy, and skin at least three victims every level. This is not recommended when you start out. And, in this mode, every enemy takes twice as much damage as is realistic, and your energy drains away twice as quick, so watch out! Platforms: PC Customization This is something we really need for a predator only game. Once you have selected your gear from your inventory, you go to the customization screen. There, you can select how everything looks from your mask, armor, and weapons, to your skin, mesh netting, face, and even down to the shade of your armor and eye color, length and number of dreadlocks (only three settings, few, some, and normal like we see in the movies) and the color of the bands around them. Every detail can be changed. You can choose to have those gloves, which only cover small parts of the predators’ hands, or you can choose not too. The look of everything is customizeable, everything. Think about the game Armored Core, and how you could customize every part of your AC. This customization feature would be a lot like that.
