Thoughts on Predator Gameplay

Ideas for the Predators in AvP3 [Discuss in Forums] This is an attempt into bringing the Predator to what it really is, a walking powerhouse of skill and technology, I believe in AvP, Rebellion succeeded, why? because the Predator WAS feared, even Aliens took caution when attacking a Pred. Monolith basically made the Pred like a human but with different weapons and a few advantages, any species now can go kill a Pred blindfolded and with a smile on his/her face, no shaking hands, no peaking down corners, no fear - i apologize if the numerous pics slow down ur load time but its worth it. Section 1: -=PREDATOR RANKS=- #NOTICE - Unlike other species Predators do not have classes with their own specific weaponry they have ranks; each "rank" hasn a single unique weapon and the basic wrist blades. Instead Preds have 3 slots for 3 weapons that they can choose from their inventory - Preds are NOT allowed to use other Preds unique weapons whatso ever and can carry 5 weapons at a time only. Players must now decide what 5 weapons work best for them. Predator (Hunter): The basic Predator Rank, a blooded hunter that has medium speeds and armor, its unique weapon is the "Hunter Caster" described in section 2.5. #NOTICE - The Hunter Pred is NOT allowed to pick the typical "Plasma Caster" as one of the 3 custom weapons. Light Predator (Stalker): This is the fastest Pred and least armored, yet with a combination of agility and the their unique weapon (spear gun; check section 2.5) they are to be feared. Heavy Predator (Warrior): The Warrior Predator class that surround the elder are considered the second highest rank any Predator can reach - they pack a lot of armor and are slower than most Preds yet their Unique "Burner" rifle speaks for itself in terms of firepower. (check section 2.5) Predator Elder (Clan Leader): The Elder as the name suggest is the leader of a Pred Clan. He is fairly well armored and has medium speed - as an honorable clan leader he is bestowed with a powerful and unique sword. (check section 2.5) Section 2: -=WEAPON INVENTORY =- -Wrist Blades: Same as its always been except for a new special ability added (see below) -Combi-Stick: Very Similar to what it is in AvP2, except it has more strikes, an overhead strike, forward thrust, slash, THROW - all achieved by the movement of the Pred, while using the weapon, walking forward and pressing primary fire will do a long reach forward thrust, while standing still will do the overhead blow, and back peddling will result in the slashes - THROW is executed by pressing a special key. -Pistol: The Pistol has only one mode of fire, its ammo supply is dependant from the Pred''s energy source, like the name suggests its just a pistol, with an ammo of 20 or so - 2 direct hits would kill light-medium targets - same RoF as in AvP2 -Remote Bombs: Exactly like those of AvP2. -Dart Gun: The Dart gun is seen in P2, its quite a strange gun that fires different types of projectiles which are listed below:: ---Force Net: The Force Net is exactly like in AvP2, except it pins targets to walls, and it forces itself on them causing them to lose health (damage doesn''t work against Aliens) VERY slowly, and restrains targets for a longer period of time than in AvP2. ---Neuro Toxin Darts: These poisonous darts are seen in P2, they are low in ammunition like the Force Net, yet their effects are far more interesting, they cause prey to feel drowsy, thereby making them slower. -Wrist Rocket: The Wrist Rocket has always been a personal favorite of mine, that i simply had to add it - such a weapon would cause the target to be pushed WAY back and cause the marine armor to be depleted almost completely, it should have a lock on but no homing, a head shot would kill but anything else would cause *some* damage but most of all push targets WAY BACK, even off ledges. The Wrist Rocket would be a last ditch Pred weapon limited to 1 shot (w/ pickups), from what I observed Preds need ALL the last ditch weapons they can get, since most of their weapons have a small amount of ammo and are limited to the energy supply The Wrist Rocket does have various effects depending on the various circumstances - see below: -if the target was pushed back and hits wall, he/she gets stunned temporarily and receive a tad bit more damage -If the target is just pushed back, *without* hitting the wall, he/she are free to move, no stun; only damage -if the target is pushed off a ledge, well ye''know what happens... -Disc: AvP2 Discs are VERY balanced, one of the few things Monolith succeeded at IMHO. -Shoulder Canon: One word; "AVP". The SC should return to its AvP origins, fast, damaging, completely non-homing plasma bolt that only has a lock on ONLY. Section 2.5: -=UNIQUE WEAPONS =- #NOTICE - The unique weapons below are available ONLY to the corresponding rank. Hunter Caster: The first one is the Hunter Caster, which is obviously for the Predator Hunter class i mentioned above, this Caster causes less damage, is slightly faster and takes up less energy yet its lock-on is slower to achieve indicating that players that use the Hunter Caster must be patient. -Spear Gun: EXACTLY like it is in AvP2, with the secondary fire - although i would love to see new effects, and MORE GORE! -Burner (Plasma Rifle): Consider this to be the Predator version of a shot gun, designed to rid a hapless Predator from swarms of Aliens, it fires 3 plasma bolts every shot that aren''t very accurate against moving objects, while secondary fire, fires a VERY concentrated beam that eats a huge amount of energy but can damage (not kill) everything in its firing path, the beam gets weaker the farther the target is, so u may think of it as a one shot weapon, since it leaves the Predator with almost no energy left, and open to attack. -Elder Sword: The Elder Sword is a powerful melee weapon, like no other - its very similar to the combi-stick except its causes slightly more damage. Its primary attack is a series of slashes while secondary is a *charged* instant kill (in some cases) forward thrust that impales victims which is best used on immobile victims. Section 3: -=BASIC PREDATOR FEATURES =- -Cloak: Cloak, is not designed to make the Pred invisible just hard to see, in the movies the humans couldn''t see the Preds becuz they didn''t know what they were looking for or what their facing - the Pred cloak should have a shimmering effect that is VERY visible when the Pred moves, or near a light source, but is almost un-noticeable when the Pred stand still. Here''s How Predator Cloak functions with the weaponry: *Wrist Blades, Hunter Caster, and Plasma Caster are completely cloaked and will NEVER uncloak a Pred! *Dart-Gun, Combi-stick, Elder Sword and Spear gun are cloaked until put to use then, the weapons themselves will uncloak while the Pred player himself will still remain cloaked, after a period of time the cloak will cover the weapons again automatically until they are used again. *Wrist Rocket, Burner, Self Destruct, and Disc will completely uncloak the Pred upon use. -Super Jump/Wall Cling: Exactly like it is in AvP2 except it has an added ability, the Wall Cling, it isn''t exactly a wall climb but the next best thing, i was inspired by this from P2 - Well to break it down, Once the Pred super jumps it uses the wrist blades to cling to the wall, NOT climb, their it can have a good view of whats going on and CAN snipe, it would be perfect in Hunt mode - allowing the Pred Player to really feel like a hunter, sure it comes at a cost, Aliens! This not only adds to strategy but FEAR, yes FEAR that while u r happily killing marines, an Alien sneaks up on ya and bites ur head off, the wall cling ability is FOR ALL Pred Classes. -Medicomp: The Medicomp is slightly different than before, it no longer relies on energy, instead each Pred starts with medicomp packs, that can only be replenished when all 3 are used up. -Self Destruct: Yes the long awaited ability that never saw daylight in an AvP game, WHY? the self destruct is just downright scary, I would piss my pants if i found out that a nearby Pred activated his/her self destruct - i would run like hell only to hear his/her echoing laughter racing to get me, It should be available to all classes, once the Pred''s health reaches below 40%, he/she can self destruct and within a matter of seconds(5) he/she will explode in a huge blast destroying all life forms unfortunate enough to be close by, The downside is, if the marine/alien blow u up/eat ur head/ shoot ur arm off in time - the self destruct is cancelled u die - they don''t. #NOTICE - It is important that AvP3''s MP scoring is done accordingly, the more trophies u get as a predator the higher ur score, the more live headbites for the Alien, the higher ur score will be and so forth. Section 4: -=PREDATOR MASK (FUNCTIONS) =- -Unmasked Vision: As seen in P1 the Preds unmasked vision IS infra red except it is far more unclear than the normal "Thermal" vision - The unmasked Pred vision unlike the thermal vision does not filter "other" heat sources from both the environment and weapons. It is still fairly easy to see through except some species are semi-invisible such as Aliens and Synthetics - because of this the mask in AvP3 should put up a stronger fight before it is removed. #NOTICE - Since the mask is harder to remove now, it is possible for Aliens to give Preds a head bite from BEHIND only; unless they remove the mask. -Thermal (Marine) Vision: Exactly like it was in P1 - The Thermal vision should reveal all warm blooded creatures which include both humans and Preds(which like the "IR goggles" i mentioned in the Marine article are harder to see). All heat giving objects like in P1 should leave a short heat trail behind them. Thermal vision should also have a special loop sound attached to it when in use like in P1. Everything in the distance should appear foggy. -Electro Magnetic (Alien/Synth) Vision: The EM vision should return as it is except it reveals ALL electric sources which include Aliens, Synthetics, and electronics (such as the electric outlets for Pred recharge) - like the Thermal vision it should also have the loop sound attached to it when in use, and everything in the distance should appear foggy. -Ultra Violet Vision: Since humans have developed ways to counter the Preds thermal vision by using special clothing, Preds have put full use of their UV vision - this vision mode should reveal all light sources, which include shoulder lamps, the glowing IR goggles of Marines (if they are in use), and the laser targeters of both Snipers and other Preds - even explosions that produce lots of light will be revealed. The sound loop should be attached to this vision when in use. #NOTICE - As a side note if a Pred is in Thermal vision for example, then other species that do not correspond to this vision mode should not appear at all unless they are EXTREMELY close. Section 5: -=MISC=- -Skinning: Sure this is gory and stuff, but why not give the Pred, the skinning ability, by pressing the wrist blade slash rapidly the victims skin is pealed, off - bad idea if u wanna use it against Aliens. -MCSS: Or Multiple Customizable Skin System, which is just a fancy name for multiple skins for every class of every specie that can be customized before a player enters a game - Not only will this feature be cool, but it will give players a more unique feeling, this isn''t hard to do and is a must to keep the MP games rollin''. -Location Damage: All new FPS games are implementing it, why not AvP2 - a headshot would kill, a legs shot would slow target down, a hand shot would cause problems with using weaponry, a chest shot would just cause damage.
