AVP Movie Picture

Over at Lance Hendriksen News, they have just got back from Prague, and brought back with them, the first picture of Charles Bishop Weyland. "I have just got back from Prague where I was lucky enough to meet the cast and crew of Alien vs. Predator including Lance Henriksen! What an experience, these people made me feel so welcome. There's a real team spirit with this film and they're all having a lot of fun! Lance gave me a fantastic interview: we chatted over coffee and for a couple of hours Lance shared lots of stories about his movies and roles including AvP, Millennium and Frank Black ... and many many more. I'm busy writing up the transcripts of the interview and will soon post it on this site, with photos. Lance is the best, he is everything I expected and much more: funny, handsome, kind, magnanimous, down to earth, totally cool. He's a top guy. And Alien vs. Predator is going to be such a hit, a must-see this summer. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone over in Prague for making this such a special experience, particularly Geoff and Lance." Check out the picture below: Thanks to AVP Galaxy for the news.

McFarlenes to Do AVP Figures

A while ago I posted an article on AVPWorld claiming that Mcfarlenes may be featuring figures from the new Alien vs Predator film due out later this year. Well according to Figures.com, McFarlenes are going to be the company bringing us the figures as a seperate set to the Movie Maniacs. Heres a bit from the article: "High-end resin collectibles will be in the good hands of Palisades. Very much like McFarlane, Palisades is no stranger to the properity. Palisades' upcoming AVP pieces were shown at the UK Toy Fair in the form of concept art. Due to licensing restrictions via FOX, we are not permitted to show you these. I will say that an Alien and Predator with intricate interlocking bases are involved. As is an Alien Queen. " Sounds cool, Read the article.

AvP - News From The Set

SuicideSquad has posted some news of his Alien vs. Predator set visit in Prague over at AvP Forums at GameGossip. Some choice schnippets imparted to SuicideSquad from the publicity department: *** POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT *** - If AvP is successful Fox will forego Alien 5 and/ or Predator 3 in favour of AvP sequels. - No immediate plans for an AvP3 game (which seems to be at odds with reports from Fox Interactive). Another AvP game may come out to coincide with an film sequel. - The discrepancy between the spelling of Weylan and Weyland between Alien and the sequels seems to have always meant to be Weyland according to Paul Anderson, but was a production mistake in the first film. - Bishop in Alien3 is supposed to be an advanced model android with red blood. - AvP will be regarded as canon in the Alien and Predator universes. - There never was a Yutani character in this film. - The combatants? 3 Predators versus about 3000 Aliens. - At least 2 hours in length. - Budget of around $70 million. - Another teaser soon, with a trailer around April. - Aliens resemble most the Resurrection design but black rather than brown. - Lotsa chestbursters. Lotsa of Pred self destruction (how with only 3 Predators?) Queen involved. Predator mothership involved. - Lots of in-camera effects with CG enhancements. - No comment about PredAliens. Donning my editorial hat for a second, I find some of this info a bit dubious, but this is nothing to do with SuicideSquad and we thank him most profusely for sharing the details of his visit. A scholar and a gent, and no mistake!

An Anime AVP?

Over at PlanetAVP, someone has emailed them claiming that Capcom is trying to aquire the license from Fox. He including no source or prove of this, so consider this a rumor

Predator 3 Scripts and Rodriguez Interview

MovieHole, has posted an interview with Director Robert Rodriguez. In this article, Predator 3, or Predators as he calls it, is mentioned: "Oh, "Predators", yes we're the "Predator 3", it's call "Predators". It was back when I was doing "Desperado". I wrote "Desperado", it was going to get made like end of September, and then "Last Action Hero" bombed, so they said we're not making any movies for a year, like next year. So I was like what am I going to do until then? So I took a writing assignment, and one of the writing assignments that was out was "Predator" sequel. " Read the article here. After reading the previous article i looked into Pred 3 a bit more. According to IGN, there are currently 3 scripts. One called Predator 3: Deadlier of the Species, Predators and Predator 3. Predator 3: Deadlier of the Species is written by Sam Park, and feature Dutch stuck in LA during a blizzard and a Predator Huntings him. The second Predators, is set in the 17th Century, on a boat, and the crew have to fight the predator using week weapons. Maybe this is where the Pred from Predator 2 got his gun from? The last, Predator 3, being the old rumored script where Dutch and Harrigan would get taken by the predators back to there homeworld. Check It Out.

YUTANI CASTING A FAKE

The recent report from AICN claiming that the casting of Peter Weller as John Yutani was a fake. A rouse created by someone to prove that AICN post news without proper info and stuff!

John Yutani Casted

Aint it Cool News has posted an article stating that John Yutani, last of the duo Weyland-Yutani, has been casted. The person playing the part will be Petter Weller, Robocop. Heres a small bit from the article: "Last month I was fortunate enough to exchange e-mails with one of the press invitees (For his sake, I will not name him outright) who took part in the Prague AVP set visits, and he dropped MAJOR hints that a certain "Detroit Cyborg" would be involved in the upcoming movie. To keep a long story short, after a lengthy discussion and a whole lot of begging, I finally managed to squeeze some interesting details out of him. While this would come as quite a major spoiler, this is hands down the best news I've heard yet coming from a motion picture with Paul Anderson's name attached to it. " I happen to agree with Super Furry Animal who mentions that he would have thought Yutani would have been a japannse company man. Read the article here.

AVP Movie Storyline *SPOILERS*

Well thanks to AVP Galaxy an article on Dark Universe has been found. "The film opens in the year 2000 BC, as a Alien before a Predator blasts the creature. In the present day, technicians at a Wayland Industries' satellite receiving station make a startling discovery. A team of scientists is assembled and travel by an icebreaker ship to the Antarctic where a system of pyramids lies beneath the ice, seemingly proving archaeologist Wells' theory that ancient civilisations emerged from one master race. Inside the pyramids they discover human skeletons with holes in their chests and fossilised chest-bursters, while a sarcophagus room is discovered to contain advanced weaponry belonging to the Predators. Verheiden rashly initiates a process that sees a chained captive Alien Queen lifted from a vapour pool and begin laying eggs. On the surface five young Predators arrive to take part in their trials, armed with new weapons including throwing stars that expand to six long blades. They kill the project's drilling team and head into the pyramids, leading to an explosive showdown between the Predators, the Aliens and the humans. " Take a look at the Article

Alien Poster and AVP Movie Date

First off i'd like to say while going to the Cinema to see T3, i noticed a poster for the re-release of Alien. It was basically a normal alien poster but saying Directors Cut beneath the main title! Now second is another release date for the AVP Movie, August 6th, 2004. Thanks to the webmaster of AVP Galaxy for e-mailing me the site he got the date from. Check it out here

More Alien Re-release news

Okay chaps and chapettes, this is the Official synopsis from Fox of the Alien : Director's Cut and it's Halloween release. On the scariest day of the year, Twentieth Century Fox re-releases the scariest film ever made: Ridley Scott's "Director's Cut" of this science fiction / horror classic. For this newly-restored special edition, Scott has re-edited the film, incorporating new footage never before seen in theaters. ALIEN has been hailed by critics and audiences worldwide as a seminal work of the genre.

AustrAlien

Alien in the UK

According to Launching Movies the Director's Cut of Alien will be getting a release in the UK this October 24.

AvP - Alien design

According to Dark Horizons a rumour is circulating that the design of the Aliens in the new film will be more like the ridge headed creatures of the second film, than their smooth headed brethren of the other three flicks.

Batman : Dead End

Eh? This is AvP! Why do we care about the Dark Knight? Because he's getting down and dirty with an Alien and a Predator, that's why! Download the new fan film Batman : Dead End from Montauk Films and Level 7. I've seen a lot of fan films, and what this lacks in plot it more than makes up for in brilliant production values. Highly recommended!! (NOTE: It's a 48MB Quicktime download - but still worth the effort!)

Alien : Director's Cut Trailer

Many of you may be aware that Alien is being re-released this Halloween and Dark Horizons reports the trailer for said film was screened at the recent San Diego Comic-Con. No news on what 'Director's Cut' may entail (ie. whether Ridley Scott will be restoring deleted footage), but watch this space for updates.

Weaver's next...

Sadly not another Alien flick, but of interest to genre fans. "M.Night Shyamalan’s new film “The Woods” is sounding better and better everytime the trades publish an update. Hot on the heels of William Hurt joining the cast, comes news that Ellen Ripley herself, Sigourney Weaver, has signed for a role. Set in 1897, the film revolves around a close-knit community that lives with the frightening knowledge that a mythical race of creatures resides in the woods around them. Shyamalan, mastermind behind “Signs”, “The Sixth Sense” and “Unbreakbale” also wrote the script." Sourced from Moviehole.

Predator 3

With stories abounding about Aliens vs. Predator and a potential Alien 5, this was bound to come up sooner or later... "Hollywood Insiders have let loose more cafe talk that Robert Rodriguez is still discussing this project, pushing his own screenplay a little further. His project is said to take place on board a 17th century ship, which the Predator making a visit to its crew. The other script is another golden oldie, The Zoo, which is meant to include Arnold's character Dutch and Danny Glover's from the underated sequel. The two men are captured and taken back to the Predator's home planet, as trophies." From Z Review via Dark Horizons.

Cameron and Alien V

Thanks to Dark Horizons for this schnippet about James Cameron, T3 and Alien 5. "James Cameron recently talked with BBC1 and revealed he's very happy with how Terminator 3 ended up: "In one word : Great. There was a small part of me that hoped it wasn't good - but another part of me hope'd it succeeded. And it did. And I'm so glad it did. Jonathon's made a great movie. Arnold's in great form. I really like what he's done with it". If he had done it, would he have handled it differently: "Yes. That's only natural. I mightn't have structrued it the same, nor may I have ended it the same way - but coming in where he has, such a hard thing to do, and I give Jonathan points for it". This isn't a man whose going to whitewash his opinion either, take for example his reaction to "Alien 3" - "Hated it. Simple as that. I hated what they did.... I couldn't stand Alien 3 - how they could just go in there and kill off all these great characters we introduced in aliens, and the correlation between mother and daughter. It stunk, but hopefully I'll get a chance to rectify all that". You mean the talk about him being tied to "Alien 5" is true? "To an extent. yes. We're looking at doing another one. Something similiar to what we did with Aliens. A bunch of great characters, and of course Sigourney. I've even discussed the possibility of putting him [Arnold Schwarzenegger] into the Alien movie". Thanks to 'Ryan'." This seems to be markedly different from some earlier quotes from Cameron indicating Weaver wasn't a given for future Alien films - but, if Cameron's claims have substance, is nonetheless encouraging news if you the current rumours regarding the storyline of Paul Anderson's Aliens vs. Predator have left you a bit cold.

Colonial Marines - Elite Force

The Crew of the USS Aurian have been called upon to investigate the sudden loss of contact on LV429. A secret Medical Research and Developement Facility deep in the Beta Fora system. Details are sketchy at best. However, if the crew have been called, then something is seriously wrong on the planet. That's the setup for the upcoming 3D animated fan film from Purity Animation Studios entitled 'Colonial Marines - Elite Force'. Part 1 is scheduled for release in just 29 short days. Check their website out for background on the project, pictures and a trailer. Impressive... most impressive. Thanks to AvPNews for the heads up.
